Ten Things of Thankful

Welcome to Ten Things of Thankful!

We gather here each weekend to share our posts about the things we are thankful for in our lives, and sometimes just to report that we've survived a difficult week; when we start focusing on the positives and the silver linings, we are able see that life is good. We also encourage each other by sharing pieces of our own journey. The people who participate in TToT are a truly awesome bunch from all age groups and all walks of life; I hope you'll join us and invite your blog friends to do the same, everyone is welcome!

At Ten Things of Thankful we believe that there are many little things in our lives to be thankful for each day as well as the big things that stand out. Keep in mind that you are not required to list ten things if you can't come up with that many, nobody is keeping score, just do the best you can! You'll find that once you get started, more things tend to pop into your head. There is no specific format required for your post, you are encouraged to do it your way. Variety makes it interesting!  :-)

This week's TToT link-up will open shortly after midnight (Central Time) on Thursday night, and will remain open until Tuesday night, so you have plenty of time to work on your post.

Please visit as many of the links as possible, sharing your thoughts is what this group is all about; and PLEASE check back next week for new links that were added later, those folks will appreciate your comments too!

Thank you for your part in making our Ten Things of Thankful blog such an uplifting experience!

Please take a moment to answer the following question in the comments section below. It's a fun way for us to get to know each other a little better.  In most states we set our clocks back an hour last Sunday. What do you like/dislike about Daylight Savings Time?

  1. It interrupts my sleep, so i do not like the annual change. If we want our daylight later in the day, clock time speaking, then put us on "summer time" and make that the standard time and don't make us change it ever again!

    1. I agree, Mimi, pick one and stay with it! :-)

  2. I love this time of year and the fall back part with the extra hour of sleep. :)

    1. I agree that the extra hour of Fall Back is nice, but losing that hour in the spring is pretty rough for a week or so when it's time to get up! :-)

  3. I don't like how early it gets dark once the clocks go back. I love it when I wake up and the sun has already risen, so I look forward to those days again :)

    1. Me too, it seems like the evenings of darkness are so much longer. I love waking up to sunlight and wish we could just throw away all the clocks and let our bodies regulate our sleep naturally, they will if given the chance!

  4. When our children were little, it interfered with their bedtimes when it stayed light so long in the evenings. Other than that I just go with the flow.

    1. I remember thinking as a child that it was so unfair when we had to go to bed and it was still not really dark out! It is what it is though, and certainly not the biggest issue in life, though I wish they would end it. Some states like Arizona were a bit wiser and opted out of it. Yay for them! :-)

  5. I am not a fan of artificial time changes. It throws off our natural rhythms and confuses the furkids who don't understand the new breakfast and dinner schedule. Hours of light and darkness are nicer when the change is gradual, but since we have no choice in the matter we adapt and of course enjoy what feels like a little extra bit of sleep time with the fall back time change. Nights come too early now, but soon the Winter Equinox will be here and bit by bit daylight will return to us!

    1. Ideally, I'd prefer both the evenings and the mornings to be sunlit. Dark is for sleeping and for reflective writing! :-)

  6. I do wish darkness wasn't such a problem for so many. I love it. I love light, sunlight too, but I don't care about the time change thing. I don't know it really bothers me all that much, but in saying that, I could take it or leave it.

    1. I love the warm security of darkness, it calms me and puts me in a reflective writing mode. I love sunlight too, it energizes me and makes me smile. In a perfect world we could have 12 hours of each, and maybe not need as much sleep as we seem to. I wish people came with spare batteries so I could do more! :-)

  7. Although I like the extra hour of sleep on the night we "fall behind," I don't care for the week or so it takes to adapt to the change.

    1. I agree, that extra hour feels good for the first night, but it does throw our internal clock off and the day seems too long and suppertime comes too late. My furkids agree with that!
