Ten Things of Thankful

Welcome to Ten Things of Thankful!

We gather here each weekend to share our posts about the things we are thankful for in our lives, and sometimes just to report that we've survived a difficult week; when we start focusing on the positives and the silver linings, we are able see that life is good. We also encourage each other by sharing pieces of our own journey. The people who participate in TToT are a truly awesome bunch from all age groups and all walks of life; I hope you'll join us and invite your blog friends to do the same, everyone is welcome!

At Ten Things of Thankful we believe that there are many little things in our lives to be thankful for each day as well as the big things that stand out. Keep in mind that you are not required to list ten things if you can't come up with that many, nobody is keeping score, just do the best you can!  You'll find that once you get started, more things tend to pop into your head! There is no specific format required for your post, you are encouraged to do it your way. Variety makes it interesting!  :-)

This week's TToT link-up will open shortly after midnight (Central Time) on Thursday night, and will remain open until Tuesday night, so you have plenty of time to work on your post.

Please visit as many of the links as possible, sharing your thoughts is what this group is all about; and PLEASE check back next week for new links that were added later, those folks will appreciate your comments too!

Thank you for your part in making our Ten Things of Thankful blog such a blessing,

Please take a moment to answer the following question in the comments section below. It's a fun way for us to get to know each other a little better.  With Father's Day coming up in the USA this weekend, what is one of the things you enjoy/enjoyed doing with your father or any other male that has played an important role in your life?

  1. My Dad and i used to go see every James Bond movie as it was released. He was a huge fan, and i didn't so much like the movies as i liked being with him.

    1. Shared movies are fun memories, you are right that it's not so much about the movie as the time together. I know you smile when you see something about an old James Bond movie now!

  2. Sometimes after supper my dad and I would go fishing at a nearby lake. We didn't talk much and we didn't catch a lot of fish, but I loved sharing the quiet time with him while we watched the bobbers on our lines floating on the water and the sun slowly setting into evening.

  3. I love this time of year because Father's Day has had a new meaning, ever since the transplant. What do I get a man who gave me the ultimate gift twenty years ago? Also, we have our tradition of watching A Christmas Carol every Christmas Eve.

    1. You are so right, Kerry... that pretty much tops the gifts that a parent can give a child, and what a strong connection it has forged between you! <3 I love family traditions like favorite Christmas movies, those memories will be forever!

  4. I enjoyed playing Checkers with my Dad. Sometimes he would throw a softball to give some practice trying to hit the ball. I was a terrible batter. On vacations, I enjoyed going with my Dad and Mom to visit their old high school friends.

    1. My Dad used to play checkers with us too! Playing ball together would be fun, I am terrible at all athletic endeavors. Trips to visit people are fun, and you also get to learn about your parents in a different role as they reminisce about old times shared. :-)

  5. When I was younger, my dad used to play his guitar and we'd all sing folk songs together.

    1. OH that is a lovely memory! There is nothing I enjoy more than acoustic guitar music... a reminder of the 60s-70's when someone was always playing and singing.
