TToT - 3/24/17

Ten Things of Thankful
Happy Springtime!

Are things starting to green up in your area, or are you still buried in snow?  Afternoons are already very warm here in West Texas.  How did your week go?  Did you find some reasons to be thankful?

At Ten Things of Thankful we believe that there are many little things in our lives to be thankful for each day as well as the big things that stand out. Keep in mind that you are not required to list ten things if you can't come up with that many, nobody is keeping score, but do the best you can!  You'll find that once you get started, more things tend to pop into your head! :-)

This week's TToT link-up will open shortly after midnight (Central Time) on Thursday night, and will remain open until Tuesday night, so you have plenty of time to work on your post.  Please check back next week for new links that were added in later, those folks will appreciate your comments too!

Please take a moment to answer the following question in the comments section below.  It's a fun way for us to get better acquainted.   You are given $500 on the condition that you must spend it on yourself, how would you spend it?

  1. Happy Friday! If i had to spend $500 on myself, i would put it toward a laptop computer. Right now, we do not have one, and every time i need something that's not a Mac (which is often), i have to stop at the library. Having one at home would help so much!

    1. Computers are so important in our lives, and I would be miserable without access to mine (I pretty much use my Surface tablet w/keyboard all the time now.) I will be praying that a new one finds its way to your life soon!

  2. I would use it to pay for a nice time in Niagara Falls. It would be for my family, but really it would be for me. I already plan this trip in May, zip lining, to celebrate a milestone. I don't know how much things will end up costing. The $500 would help with the costs and I wouldn't have to worry about it.

    1. This sounds like such an amazing family experience, Kerry! I can't wait to hear all about it. I love your spirit of adventure, and I know you'll find a way to make it work!

  3. Like Kerry, I would "cheat" a bit and use the money for a trip for John and me. However, unlike Kerry, I don't have a destination in mind already, and it probably wouldn't include zip lining! :-)

    1. I don't see it as cheating if what gives us the most joy personally is to share something with people we love. I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to try zip lining either, but it does look like such fun! Time spent together anywhere is always a blessing!

    2. Aw, come on you two...you should join us...the more the merrier. I'd like all the TToT crew to come along.
      :-)

Zip lining is nothing, not compared to something like sky diving. Not sure I'll ever have the guts to do that.

    3. Imagine what a crazy fun gathering that would be! I can actually envision you trying skydiving at some point because you are the embodiment of moving forward fearlessly! Think about doing a tandem sky dive for your next milestone birthday! :-)

    4. I would, but I don't know if my father's heart could handle it. He already found it hard to watch me walk out around the outer edge of Toronto's CN Tower a few years back. Maybe for my 40th though. Who knows.

  4. That's really a tough one. I can think of lots of ways to spend it on other people or my home. On myself? A trip to see a friend far away? (maybe you) Pedicure/manicure - that's what I'm wishing for right now but that is a small part of the $500. A wise thing would be to pay off debt.

    1. That's so true, Val. If I had $500 right now, I would toss everyone's name in a basket and send it to someone on this list! I once had a friend do a vacation giveaway on her blog, and I ended up with a trip to Savannah for John and I. My son et us there and it was amazing. I wish I could do that for someone! I wish we could have a TToT friends meetup somewhere, and that we all could afford to attend!

A new pedicure/manicure can be so good for morale, I used to do it fairly often. You deserve new Spring-colored fingers and toes! :-)

Pay off debt, ugh, always with us 'til the end I suspect, but we work hard at reducing it, and somehow we get by.

  5. There are not really any things I need right now, I am ok with what I have. I think I would spend it on a trip to visit my sisters in the Midwest, I haven't seen either of them in over five years because of work and the expense of travel, though we do stay in contact each day.

    1. That's a long time, and I hope to figure out a way to make it happen before this year is over, maybe in the Fall.

  6. Massage $30
    Facial $50
Housekeeping $200 (is that considered for me?) (Yes because it frees up my time to have the first 2)
    Ankle weights
    Exercise bench

    1. I love this, you have figured out exactly what you can get for $500, and yes, most definitely housekeeping services count, I would like to have that for my house too, but first I need someone to organize it!

  7. I think I would hire a personal trainer with the $500. I really need to get back on track with exercise and from past experience the best way for me to do that is with a trainer.

    1. That would be great, Patricia, definite motivation! I'd like that too, along with someone to prepare healthy meals for me so that all I'd have to do is eat them. Obviously I need better self-discipline and choice-making skills! :-)

  8. That one's easy - pay the bills.

    1. I know that feeling, Lisa, getting something paid off is a good feeling too. It takes the pressure off, so it is a gift to yourself in that way. XOXO
