Have you had a good week, or was it one of those you had to work hard to make the best of? I like the challenge of learning to identify some blessings in each day no matter how much struggle might have been obscuring them. I like being able to end each day saying thank you and truly feeling grateful for the life I've been given, and the lessons I've learned and am still learning. Sometimes I am thankful just for God getting me through it, but most of the time there is ever so much more! I've also discovered that the things that seem like insurmountable obstacles at the moment will often appear more manageable with a little more perspective in the days to come.
The think I love most about participating in the Ten Things of Thankful link-up is the way my spirit is lifted just by reading the awesome things everyone else shares, and often realizing that I am thankful for some of those same things, and I hadn't even thought about it!
Keep in mind that you are not required to list ten things if you can't come up with that many, nobody is keeping score, but do the best you can! At TToT we believe that there are many little things in our lives to be thankful for each day as well as the big things that stand out.
This week's link-up will open shortly after midnight CST on Thursday night, and will remain open until Tuesday night, so you have plenty of time to work on your post. Please check back next week for new links that were added in later, those folks will appreciate your comments too!
Please take a moment to answer the following question in the comments section below. It's a great way for us to get better acquainted! Where is your happy place, where you most enjoy going if you need to get away from it all?
My happy place is any place where i can be by myself for a bit when i need to be. It doesn't happen often, though.
ReplyDeleteThat's true, Mimi, I find I need quiet time, when I can collect my thoughts without any outside noise, interruption or conversation. Hopefully it won't be too long before your house has a bit more quiet as children leave the nest! The purring of furkids is allowed. :-)
DeleteMy most favorite happy place is anywhere there is a secluded beach, but I don't live near water, so I also find comfort and contentment just being with my husband and our furkids, it feels peaceful and safe.
ReplyDeleteHome can be a very peaceful happy place when it is quiet, just at Mimi noted above. I think I value silence more than anything at times, after working in very noisy offices for so many years!
DeleteFunny enough I answer this in my list for this week. Being by the sea is my happy place. I feel like my soul is renewed and it removes any negativity I'm feeling :)
ReplyDeleteWe definitely match on this one, Jo. As far as I'm concerned, the seaside is the most peaceful place there is, I feel so much better after spending some time there just breathing in the salt air slowly!
DeleteI love the water, sea, ocean, lake or any shore, but really mine would have to be standing at the railing of Niagara Falls and feeling the roar under my feet, the vibration as I hold the rail, and the sound of the mighty waters falling and the mist spray on my face. I don't become bothered by all the hoards of visiting tourists the place attracts at any given time. I can tune all that out, if I need to do so, and I stand there and feel my place in the world, even as it gives me perspective and peace.
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile, Kerry, because I visited Niagara Falls once years ago, from both the Canadian and the American side. I agree, the sound, mist, and vibration, is amazing. I loved it!
DeleteI'm pretty sure you already know my happy place - THE BEACH
ReplyDeleteAnd mine too, sweet friend! <3
DeleteI like the way you look for blessings even when they are obscured. That's a good way of looking at life and finding thankfuls even when things get in the way. Oh, a , THE BEACH
ReplyDeleteThat's what sharing here enhances, Val. When I took a break from it last year, I found myself too often in a grumpy, woe is me, unhappy place. When we start to appreciate what we have, we improve our attitude and that helps us cope better, because life does indeed have its challenges, many of them!!
DeleteYou will note that I often include blessings that other people receive as part of my thankful list too, because I am happy and blessed when they are! :-)
DeleteThe beach especially on a cold, clear night.
ReplyDeleteI love the beach at night, and even moreso when the moon is full and the light reflecting on the water is amazing! The rhythm of the waves is the most peaceful sound I know, and the great expanse reminds us of the infinite and our place in it.
DeleteMy happy place is home. It is where I am at peace.
ReplyDeleteI am always happy at home too, Patricia. It is such a blessing to have a place that feels good to return to. Home is my sanctuary. I envision you there reading or crocheting with Jack and Teddy keeping you company, and it's such a peaceful image!
DeleteAnother vote for home. My home is my haven, my sanctuary, and where I am most comfortable and at peace.
ReplyDeleteI love how many of us have a home where we love to be, and feel peaceful there! For so many years home was a place of anger, sadness, and high anxiety for me, and that makes me treasure the life now ever so much more. Home has to be our safe place above all else!
DeleteAnd thanks for encouraging people to check back for later posts. It's really disappointing to share thankfuls and read other posts and have no one come visit. We later linkers appreciate that!
